Simay Özkayagan
A native of Turkey, Simay joins our firm after graduating from Architecture School in Barcelona, Spain, where she gained invaluable experience working in an architectural office and on city-scale public proposals, as well as kindergarten and renovation projects. She has strong capabilities in 3D modeling, having honed her skills in drawing and reading constructive sections. As Assistant Project Manager, Simay brings an exacting eye for detail, is sensitive to how clients will function in the spaces and follows up consistently on all flows of information. Her oversight of the critical submittal process and coordination of daily communications between project team members and Vanguard are executed with consideration. Transitioning from the field of design to bringing it to reality, Simay is an effective, positive, resourceful communicator who puts everyone around her at ease.
“From a young age, I have loved drawing, painting, and sculpting with different materials. These creative activities have provided a calming outlet for my emotions and thoughts. The joy I feel in creating art is matched by the satisfaction I get from sharing my work with others. It brings me happiness to know that my paintings can bring a smile to someone’s face, just like the satisfaction of finishing a project for a valued client.”

Simay holds a degree in Architecture from the International University of Catalonia and won first place in the ESCOFET Public Space Design Contest. Outside of design and construction, Simay enjoys painting with watercolor and acrylic. Simay’s abilities extend beyond visual arts—she played violin for 7 years as a solo artist and in an orchestra, to which she credits for giving her patience and being a good teammate.
