York College Lecture Halls
10,000 SF multi-phase build-out for The City University of New York within an occupied building renovated an existing auditorium, adding new seating, custom acoustical wall panels and ceilings, flooring, and coordinated lighting and A/V equipment.
10,000 SF restaurant for The Howard Hughes Corporation and the NOHO Hospitality Group, with interior and exterior dining areas, new kitchen, expansive custom millwork and architectural metal, new stair, mezzanine.
25,000 SF of open concept offices, breakout spaces, a state-of-the-art broadcasting studio, and flexible conference rooms with moving partitions for client CreditSights.
Saks 5th Ave Women’s Shoe Floor
20,000 SF for the Hudson Bay Company within an operating flagship department store required multiple phases to integrate new MEPS, lighting, ceilings, floors, and high-end finishes and display fixtures, toward an entire shoe floor turnover, completely renovated.
Stony Brook Medical Center Hybrid OR
6,500 SF multi-phase, multi-room project on fully occupied floors for Stony Brook University Hospital. Careful logistics coordinated staged demolition followed by new construction to incorporate MEPS, FA/FS, lighting, Siemens equipment, medical gases and finishes for the first Hybrid Operating Rooms to be built in the Northeast, while safeguarding patients and staff with the highest standards of ICRA protection.
Vanguard Construction & Co. employs over 100 diverse and dedicated professionals, many with degrees in architecture, design or construction management. When assigned to a project, the first thing we do is gather our team to strategize what best supports this particular job.
Our project team––including our Account Executive, Estimator, Project Manager, Assistant PM and Superintendent––will review the drawings, visit the site, and interview the client, user group, and building management. We confirm what Long Lead Items will need to be ordered to guarantee delivery within schedule. We verify what municipalities need to be reached to procure water, electric, or gas.
We raise questions on permits, code compliance, fire protection or abatement, and explore logistics of working in an occupied space to present phased layouts to our client showing how we can build continuously while minimizing daily interruption.
From studying the details, substantiating costs, and tapping the experience of our fellow staff members and consultants as well as the Architect, Engineer and subcontractors assigned to the project, the Vanguard Team spearheads an exchange of ideas. By strategizing the whole job in advance––in short, building it within our experienced imaginations––we establish a game plan that highlights the critical path we need to address in advance.
